PINE ROOM AND BAR
of the
STRATFIELD HOTEL
BRIDGEPORT, CONN.
Upwards of 150 years ago a farmer of REDDING,
Conn. built himself a barn,
The sturdy beams were of Oak, hand hewn,
The siding he cut from nearby standing Pine-
Connecticut Pine-a fine grained wood which is
now nearly extinct in this section and which in
olden days was largely used for the early
Furniture now so greatly prized.
The Barn stood unpainted to the weather,
The panelling in this room is the actual siding
of that old Barn,
Removed during the summer of 1933 the wood
was carefully planed by hand and the mouldings
cut by the identical Planes that were used by the
Pioneer Carpenters of Connecticut.
The wood is unstained and its color is the color
that age alone can produce.
