Parkersburg gets its name from Alexander
Parker who in 1783 purchased the land for
$50 on which the city now stands. Located on
the Ohio River at the mouth of the Little
Kanawha. On main line of B. & O. and O. R.
Division, U. S. Routes 21 and 50, State Routes
