THE OLD STATE CAPITOL, BATON ROUGE, LA.
Resembling a medieval castle, this unique structure
was built in 1847. Destroyed by fire while occupied
by Federal troops on December 28, 1862, it was
rebuilt 1880-1882. Of special interest are the spiral
staircase in the building and the wrought iron fence
surrounding the grounds.
