DES BRISAY MUSEUM,
BRIDGEWATER, LUNENBURG CO., N.S.
This Town of Bridgewater Centennial Project erected
in 1965, contains over 1800 sq. ft. of floor area,
and displays the museum collection established in
1880 by the late Judge Mather Byles DesBrisay.
The collection consists of artifacts of Micmac
Indian, French, English, and German origin arranged
in sequence to tell the story of Lunenburg County
and its people. The museum building is located in
a residential area on 25 acres of town property.
Seven acres of this is used for free spacious park-
ing, lawns and flower gardens. The balance is
preserved woodland with a quarter mile long
natural pond providing a bird sanctuary, nature
trails and picnic tables.
