Buffalo District includes the Counties of Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Wyoming,
Genesee, Orleans and Steuben. This territory of Western New York has a population of about 800,000, one-half
of which is disfranchised on the Local Option question (for or against the saloon) because they reside in the
cities. Of 196 townships in nine counties (in Buffalo District,) 97 towns have voted totally dry. How would
Local Option apply in the districts of our 10 cities? Give Local Option a trial.

LOCAL OPTION COMMITTEE
PRINCIPLES AND PURPOSE
First-CIVIC RIGHTEOUSNESS is essential for the protection of the city, the
home and the state.
Second-EQUAL RIGHTS for the voters on questions of public welfare.
Third-We insist that the voters who live in the cities of New York should
have the same opportunity to vote for or against licensed saloons as those who live
in towns and villages outside of the cities, now have.
Fourth-We therefore invite all fair-minded citizens, without reference to party,
creed or nationality, to unite in the support of the Local Option Bill before the New
York Legislature.
We want one hundred thousand voters' names in western New York. Will
you help to secure them? Send for petition cards.
The organized saloon trade is AFRAID to TRUST the PEOPLE with the ballot on
this question. The ANTI-SALOON LEAGUE stands for the RIGHT of the citizens to
vote "yes" or "no."
