SERVIA.
A country of Europe, bounded N. W. by the river
Save, separating it from Austria, N. and N. E. by
the Danube, separating it from Hungary and Rou-
mania. The capital city is Belgarde. The country
is mountainous, being traversed by portions of
three great mountain chains, the Carpathians.
Balkans and Dinaric Alps. The climate is cold in
the mountains, but mild and pleasant in the valleys.
The inhabitants are Serbs, a branch of the Slavic
race, who speak the softest, most musical of all the
Slavic dialects. They are noted for their firmness.
courage and generosity. Our photo represents a
group of Servians in their usual somewhat fantas-
tic dress, demonstrating the usefulness of our
Singer Machine, which has found its way over the
mountains into thousands of Servian homes.
