February 28, 1974
Dear Teacher:
Nebraska Commissioner of Education, Cecil E. Stanley, has
indicated his appreciation of the educational value found
in school group visits to Pioneer Village and Nebraska
museums. He is particularly concerned, however, that
these activities be planned as educational experiences and
that they have the approval of the local school board
and/or the Superintendent of Schools if the day is to be
counted as a school day.
All historical items at the Pioneer Village are arranged
in their chronological order of development. A placard
is attached to each item, therefore, a guide is unneces-
sary. We request that pupils stay with their teacher
or sponsor at all times while in the buildings and on
the grounds, for this should be an educational trip.
Students should find this truly a day of schooling they
will long remember.
Special school group admissions are 50¢ each for students
of 6 years to 16 years of age. Students 16 years and older
and adults accompanying students will be $1.50 each.
(Regular admission is $2.00 for adults and 75¢ each for
children from 6 to 16 years of age.) Passes will be given
to go out to eat if you wish to spend all day here.
The Pioneer restaurant is within easy walking distance and
we also have a picnic area where the children can eat
their lunch when the weather permits.
Sincerely yours,
Ruby Warp Nielsen, Co-Manager
