Here at White Sands, hundreds of acres of pure
gypsum forms one of the most spectacular of scenic
highlights. Few, if any plants, can exist in this beautiful
expanse of lovely white sand. One of the most unusual
of picnic grounds in the nation is found in the heart of
this fabulous spot.
Fifteen Miles South of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and
about eighty Miles North of El Paso, Texas, the White
Sands are continually growing and encroaching upon the
desert at the foot of the San Andres Mts.
