OLD TRINITY, STAUNTON, VA.
Surrounded by ancient troes and clad in green
creepers, Old Trinity once housed the Virginia
Assembly during the Revolution. In 1781, the
Assembly was pursued by Tarleton and the British
from Richmond to Charlottesville and
then
to
Staunton. After meeting three days, word suddenly
arrived that the British were coming. So abruptly
did the Assembly leave, that tradition has it Patrick
Henry took to horse wearing only one boot.
