STAGGERWING BEECHCRAFT MODEL G-17S
The final Staggerwing Beechcraft Model G-17S, built in 1946, enjoyed
all the refinements of thirteen years of production. The 450-h.p. Pratt and
Whitney engine gave it an advertised cruising speed of 202 m.p.h. The 1936
Bendix, an endurance race from New York to Los Angeles, was won by
Louise Thaden and Blanche Moyes in a Staggerwing Beech.
These 1:10 scale models, built by Eddie
Chavez and Bob Fogg, have wingspans of
38 inches.
Olive Ann Beech is welcomed on arrival
in a new King Air, Nut Tree Airport, 1968.
