This reconstruction of Fort Clatsop stands on the site of the
original built by The Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805. History
comes alive here each summer when National Park Service
Rangers, dressed in period buckskins, recreate life in the past by
making tallow candles, dressing elk skins, building furniture and
performing many other activities as did the "Corps of Volunteers
for Northwest Discovery." - Published by Fort Clatsop Histori-
cal Association, Astoria, Oregon.
