One of the nation's most famous scenic attractions,
the GRAND CANYON OF THE COLORADO RIVER,
is located on the northern plateau of Arizona. East
of the Grand Canyon are the PAINTED DESERT and
the PETRIFIED FOREST.
The metropolitan centers of PHOENIX and TUCSON
are not far from the cow towns, trading posts,
Indian villages and pueblos which are important in
the development of the state. One-seventh of the
Indian population of the United States is centered
in Arizona.
