GREETINGS FROM LORDSBURG
HIDALGO CO., NEW MEXICO
"Air Capital of the Southwest"
The traveler arriving in Lordsburg after
a long journey from the East or West is
ż immediately impressed by the hospitality of
this typical western town. The county is
named for General Miguel Hidalgo y Costillo,
who was leader of the war of Mexican
Independence, and the town was settled first
by the Spaniards seeking gold. It became a
mecca for American prospectors, miners and
cattlemen, and to this day this influence
prevails. The altitude is 4,245 feet and is
considered the most equable climate in the
United States, and exceptionally healthful.
