This stone marks the approximate spot where the Pil-
grims landed on Nov. 11, 1620 O. S. While in Provincetown
they drew up and signed the Compact, the first charter of a
democratic government in the world's history; while here
the birth of Peregrine White occurred, the first white child
born in New England; also Dorothy Bradford, the wife of
Wm. Bradford, afterward Governor of Plymouth, died here.
