The house is known to thousands of American and European read-
ers as "Dixieland", the home of the Gant family of "Look Home-
ward Angel", the boarding house operated by Eliza Gant. It has
been restored, in so far as possible, to the exact state and appear-
ance of the days of the writer's youth. The Thomas Wolfe Memo-
rial was purchased and is now maintained by the Thomas Wolfe
Memorial Association. It is open to the public year around and a
modest admission fee is charged.
