SAINT JOHN'S CHURCH Lafayette Square, Washington, D. C. Built in 1816 from the design of Benjamin H. Latrobe, architect of the Capitol. Dolly • Madison was baptized and confirmed here, and later her funeral was from this Church Presidents Madison, Monroe, Van Buren, William Henry Harrison, Tyler, Taylor, Buchanan and Arthur were constant wor- shippers here, occupying the "President's Pew".
