Yorktown, in an excellent state of preservation, stands the first
ever established in the U. S. In the old days,
custom-house
Yorktown was the port of entry for the importations of the
wealthy planters in this section, and an immense volume of
business passed through this quaint old institution, situated
just 12 miles from Jamestown, the first English settlement
in this country
