The big Spring in Tuscumbia, Alabama with a minimum flow of 45,000,000 gallons of water each twenty-four hours. It was here on the banks around the Big Spring, then called Cold Water Springs that the first white men appeared, in the year of 1777, led by a Chickasaw Indian, and drove the Cherokee Indians away from their home or village on Spring Hill, overlooking the Big Spring.
