OLD MARINERS' CHURCH SERVES DETROIT'S
NEW CIVIC CENTER
Built in 1849, Old Mariners' is the oldest Protestant
church building in Detroit. It is located on the exact
site of the Indian Council House, the first seat of
government in Michigan. The first noontime Lenten
services in the United States were held in Mariners'.
