Monterey is the home of the Monterey hull for boats. This hull
was laid out to give a sea-going boat safety in small size. For
years this boat was the backbone of the Monterey fishing fleet.
Hundreds of these boats may be seen up and down the Pacific
coast. These boats in the most part are operated by a small
crew of from one to three or four men. When the banks were
fished out close to the bay, larger boats were built to go far
out to sea. At the present time the boat yards do more repair
and service than building new boats... M.P.
