Hundreds of acres of boulders left by flow of "Mud Creek". (1924)
Additional Details:
In 1924, Mud Creek and Konwakiton Glacier collapsed into its subglacial cavities and the main canyon, causing a threatening mud flood to rush down the canyon to the McCloud Valley, depositing debris many feet in thickness over a large area of forest land below the mouth of the canyon. The debris flow consisted of cinders, pumice, small rock debris, uprooted and crushed trees, and boulders 3-4 feet in diameter. |
