SAN FRANCISCO-1915 CALIFORNIA
PANAMA-PACIFIC ALLEGORICAL PAINTING
The three figures represent allegorically, Panama-Pacific International Exposition,
San Francisco, Cal., 1915.
The middle figure is "Panama " in her national color, with outstretched arms, holding
in one hand the ship and the globe in the other, presenting Commerce to the world. To
her left, gracefully posed and draped in crimson, is the figure representing "Atlantic and
Manufacturing," "Liberty" enlightening the world by the torch upheld with her right hand.
The figure to the right is "Pacific," draped in Royal Purple, holding in her lap the Horn of
Plenty, portraying the vast abundance of the undeveloped agricultural interests of this modern
"LAND OF CANAAN."
POS
The three figures being partly draped symbolize the Semi-Tropical Zone of the Pacific
Coast, with the beautiful Sunset of California so often seen upon the shores of the Pacific as
pictured in the background of the conception.
Last, but not least, the trio gracefully posing on the Rock of Foundation representing
the substantial opportunities of the Pacific. Compliments SCHMIDT LITHOGRAPH CO.
