THE JOHNSONS AND DEATH VALLEY SCOTTY
SCOTTY'S CASTLE, DEATH VALLEY, CA - 1934
Financier, A.M. Johnson and his wife Bessilyn in repose
at their desert home with famed prospector and cowboy,
Death Valley Scotty (seated center). To some, the deep
friendship between the Johnsons with their genteel Eastern
sensibilities and the rugged, sometimes profane, Scotty is
enigmatic. Scotty purposefully shrouded his prospecting
and adventures in mystery and intrigue, but he never
obscured his love for the rugged country of Death Valley.
The Johnsons too, felt a profound affection for the stark
beauty and peacefulness of this mighty desert - providing a
common bond for this lifelong friendship. (#A6704)
