The Wesleyan Church
A young couple, soon to be married, had
decided to take a country home. On the re-
turn trip after inspecting one, the young lady
was in puzzled thought and when asked the
cause of her silence, asked "Did you notice
where the W.C. [meaning water closet] was?"
He too, had not seen it and immediately
wrote the landlord. The landlord came to the
conclusion that W. C. was The Wesleyan
Church and made his reply as follows:
Dear Sirs: The W. C. is located on a hill nine miles from the house. It now is only
capable of seating 250 people. This is very unfortunate if you are in the habit of going
regularly, unless you can do as a great many people do, take your lunch and drive
there for the morning, afternoon and evening performances. You could eat your lunch
under the trees beside the building. The last time my wife and I went was about six
years ago and we had to stand all the time. It pains us not to be able to go more often.
Some people who are in a hurry go by auto, arriving there the last minute just in time
to listen to "the call". The Ladies' Aid intends holding a Bazaar to raise funds for plush
seats which the members feel this is a long felt need.
