THE HIPPOPOTAMUS.
The Hippopotamus is a native of Africa, and next to the
elephant is the largest existing terrestrial animal. It is very
bulky, with barrel-shaped body and short thick legs, and has
an enormous head with gigantic mouth. It spends part of
its time in the water, being a good swimmer. It is a vegetable
feeder.
