A replica of the boat in which Leif Erikson and his crew of intrepid Norwegian Vikings sailed the uncharted Atlantic Ocean to America in 997. This replica was built in Bergen, Norway, in 1926 and was sailed across the Atlantic, up the St. Lawrence River and through the Atlantic, up the St. Lawrence River and through the Great Lakes, by a crew of 20th century Norwegian Vikings. It rests in Leif Erikson Park overlooking Lake Superior, with Duluth's unique Aerial Lift Bridge to be seen in the background. |
