HOGFISH-Quite common on the reefs in
the Florida keys, but less frequently
caught along the Florida mainland, this is
a preferred "eating" fish among fishermen.
It varies from a bright red, to deep yellow,
but is most often a russet brown. The
average catch is approximately 2 pounds,
while 10 or 12 is counted large. It attains
a top weight of 20 pounds. It is oddly
toothed in the upper jaw, strikes hard, and
fights harder.
