Quincy, Illinois has the only castle on the Mississippi.
Villa Kathrine crowning the summit of the highest
bluffs of the river, was built in 1900 for retired
George Metz, who told of his travels in the land of
Harounal-Rashid and his dream to build a home in
Quincy that might recall those days of happy loitering
in the oriental lotus lands. The Castle is now a part
of Quincy Parks and commands one of loveliest views
of the Mississippi.
