GRETA GARBO. (M.G.M.)
Greta Garbo was born September 18th, 1905, and made her
first screen appearance in an advertisement film. Her next
picture-a comedy-brought her to the notice of Mauritz
Stiller, who starred her in many Swedish productions, including
"The Atonement of Gosta Berling," which won for both a
Hollywood contract. Her first American picture, "The
Torrent," was a triumph, and she has gone from success to
success. She is here shown as she appeared in "The Painted Veil."
