(1) The Bell "Airacobra" used as an Interceptor-Fighter
with the Royal Air Force is one of Uncle Sam's wonder
ships. Powered with the famed Allison engine, it literally
tears thru the air at over 400 m.p.h. A cannon and 4

(7) The Vultee "Vengeance" Dive-Bomber for the R. A. F.
is able to out-perform any German "Stuka" type in speed,
bomb-carrying capacity and fire-power. The bomb load is
carried internally, giving a substantial increase in its
speed. The R. A. F. will require a great number of these
planes for its operations over Europe. Photo Whittington.
